World Cup DH #2 Fort William results
Affectionately known as Fort Bill, the highlight of the Scottish summer must surely be when the World Cup comes to town. Aaron Gwin kicked off round 1 with a win on Greg Minnaar’s home turf but it was time for Greg to claim his rightful place on top of the podium…Brook MacDonald had us all on the edge of our seats when he set the fastest time of the day halfway through the rider line up. I caught Tim Bentley’s run on freecaster and all the runs up until Steve Peat got out of the start hut and then the connection died. This year marks Fort William’s 10th time hosting the UCI World Cup DH and the event is one of the season’s best races in terms of the track and sheer spectator turnout.
Congratulations to our local hero Greg Minnaar who reigned victorious today and as a result had the Scottish countryside come alive with the sound of vuvuzelas and a roaring crowd.
