We couldn’t have asked for better weather on the weekend and the early morning chill was soon forgotten after the sun crept out from behind the hill. Saturday’s practice drew a large number of riders who came through just to have a fun day’s downhill riding, with at least six or so guys just making a donation to the shuttle, but not entering the race for Sunday.  The total race entries was 30 riders but due to a crash during the seeding runs saw Emile Raubenheimer hitch a ride with the ambulance due to a broken wrist.

We were lucky enough to have had Norman and Alan Hatherley come up from KZN to take part in the Gauteng provincial champs. Congratulations to Alan for winning the junior category (JM) even though he is currently still a sub junior boys racer. GAS had trophies made for the event and the winners have an engraved trophy to show for ending up on their respective podiums. Congratulations to all the winners and many thanks to everyone who attended the event.

The Gauteng provincial season is now officially done but racing will continue in Gauteng with the TSG GAS private series kicking of in August. Due to requests from riders we will take a break from regional races for July as SA champs are around the corner on 17 & 18 July 2010 and i am sure that we all, wallets and bikes included will appreciate the much needed break after a full racing calender for the last six months of 2010.
