Tim Bentley race report: Giba Gorge

Tim takes another convincing win at the KZN regional. Here is what he had to say…
On the 29th of May the 6th round of the Greg Minnaar/mongoose downhill series took place at Giba Gorge mountain bike Park. This was probably going to be my last provincial as I might be overseas for the 7th round, This means I felt a lot of pressure to pull of a win and finish of the series well.
Practise went well and the track was very dry and loose, the sand was like pebbles and was hard to get good grip on. There were quite a few falls during the day but luckily I managed to stay on the bike the whole day.
Racing started off at one, and I was the last man down the hill. My first run went well making a few mistakes here and there, but it felt pretty fast. I managed to get the fastest time, 3 seconds ahead of Mongoose rider Hayden Brown.
I was hoping to go faster on my second run, but I made a few mistakes and didn’t get my lines as good as I wanted to. I ended up getting the same time as my first run and I still kept my 3 second lead over Hayden.
Overall I was very happy and it was a good day. I was stoked with the win and was also stoked that both my dad and brother podiumed in their age groups.
I would just like to thank my sponsors, GT bicycles, Omnico and Greg Minnaar cycles.
Overall results
Tim Bentley 1:37
Hayden Brown 1:40
Justin Cope 1:40
My next race is on the 13th of June at Mankele mountain bike park Nelspruit.
Keep it pinned!
Regards,
Tim Bentley.
