Klapperkop race this Sunday

klapper_head

Francois just updated us on this weekends race which will be held at Klapperkop fort, as well as some other news regarding the Gauteng race season.

“Hi everyone, it’s almost racing time again. It will be the first time in many months that we will be racing on the old Klapperkop course, but i’m sure it’s going to be gnarly. All riders and visitors will get free parking inside the fort.

The annual indaba was informative and good feedback was received for the positive growth the sport has undergone in the last year. Many thanks to everyone who did their part and more, to spread the word.

The official race season will start on 1 January 2010, the national calender was set up this weekend and as soon as i get a copy i will send it along. I can say at this stage that Johannesburg ( Central Gauteng Cycling ) will host the national event around 7 February 2010. I am aiming to have the event at a location in Krugersdorp which caters for XC, DH (2min minimum time) and hopefully 4X. But the final word lies with CGC.

We have also started work on a new course at Helderkruin and it will be a good change of scenery. Thank you to Mike Prinsloo for the help so far, anyone willing to offer some time and sweat are welcome to make their contribution.

Hope to see you all at Fort Klapperkop this Sunday”.
