TRAILS1

The trails on the Braamfontein spruit have been there for ages, but recently a few guys have started trying to clean them up and get them running smooth again. The trail scene in JHB is pretty dismal right now so getting these jumps back up and running should be good news for any folks who want to ride trails in the Randburg area. (more…)

Chris Akrigg on his Mongoose Nugget

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

The guys from Omnico sent us this link to a video of Chris Akrigg tearing it up on his Mongoose Nugget. The Nugget is a 4 inch travel bike geared towards slopestyle riders, but if you ask me it would make a pretty good 4X rig as well. Particularly with tracks getting rougher and moving away from the BMX style tracks of a few years back. And if you watch the above video its clear it can handle pretty much anything Chris throws at it.

Its also nice to see that the guys from Omnico are bringing the Nugget into South Africa. Not many distributors out here bring in Slopestyle bikes so if you looking for one you might want to check out the Nugget. We are also currently doing a long term test on the Nugget’s bigger brother called the Boot’r. You can check out the first part of that review HERE, with the 2nd installment coming in a few days time.

That Taylor guy

Monday, January 12th, 2009

A few years back I was in Vegas for Interbike and got a call from my friend Endo since I had a van and we all wanted to go ride the famous YMCA park. I arrived at the convention centre, van packed full of BMX’ers and he was standing there with another guy and 2 MTB’s. I thought the park locals would not be too happy about the large wheel based bikes on their turf but after one of them landed a tailwhip they were a hit. The other guy was Andrew Taylor and seems to be in the news everywhere these days doing really well so I dug up some old school photos of him for you to look at. (more…)
