The last official race for the 2012 DH year will be the Western Province DH championships at Contermanskloof. The same that was used for the SA champs eralier this year will be used and is said to be in pristine condition. Rally your mates and support this exiting event on 3 & 4 December.
This past weekend saw the 1st birthday celebration of Contermanskloof base bikeshop, The Bike Shed.

At age 19, Danny Hart started his second pro season with the Giant Factory Off-Road Team hoping to maybe crack the top 5. He did more than that. At Round 2 of the World Cup, in front of a capacity crowd at his “home” venue in Scotland, Danny shocked the world with one of the most exciting DH runs ever seen—and he didn’t stop there. Danny scored two more podium finishes on the World Cup and finished the season fourth overall. And he followed that with a jaw-dropping win at the World Championships in Champery, Switzerland. That run has been viewed online more than 1 million times.
Greg Minnaar has become a household name in South African mountain biking, firstly as the world renowned Downhill world champion and most importantly as an ambassador for the sport. The fairest of Capes played host to the Urban Assault at Signal hill on 22 & 23 October, an annual highlight on the western Cape cycling calendar. With the recent growth within DH MTB it is good to see even more variety in races thanks to specialized events like this that bring DH racing to the people… (more…)
