The 1st round of the SA National DH series has gone down and what an awesome weekends racing it was. The track was fairly testing and a number of riders were caught out in its rough technical sections. Watching guys going through the rougher bits it was also clear that very few guys set up their bikes for this track. And pogo stick rebound was causing a lot of guys to crash. Greg Minnaar, Tim Bentley, and Pottie were in a league of their own, and put a huge margin into the rest of their competitors. (more…)

Trek World Racing’s Justin Leov took his first win of the 2010 season last weekend in the 2nd round of the NZMTB cup which was held in Dunedin, a city Justin has recently made his new home. He’s now looking forward to another win this weekend Nelson. (more…)

Lapierre has been an active member of the international race circuit for many years now. For 2010 the French company has decided to take their sponsoring activities to the next level in order to reflect their export ambitions by creating a new “Team Lapierre International”, composed of the world’s best DH, Enduro and XC riders. This Sunday was the year end fun ride for all the GP riders. Francois organised a braai and free shuttles all day for the riders. The weather was great and the turn out was also pretty good. Greg Illingworth filmed a lot of the riding and will be putting a web edit together for us, but in the mean time here are a few snaps of the riding. (more…)

South Africa’s Greg Minnaar (Santa Cruz Syndicate) is recovering in hospital after a crash at the weekend saw him break his collarbone, and have surgery on his left leg for the treatment of blood clots that had formed after the accident. The medical term for this injury to his leg is ‘compartment syndrome’. (more…)
